What You Get

From the license holder (or, more precisely, from the person, office, or administrator at the SLAS member institution) you should receive the following:

1. a CD-ROM, containing the ATLAS.ti software
2. an activation code number (an 8-digit alphanumerical "password" needed to register you as the current software user)
3. the SLAS Institution ID (a four-to-six digit short ID of the instition)
4. a Web URL

Please make sure that you have or know all of the above. If not, please inquire directly with the license holder.

What You Do - Sign In

Go to the Web address you have received.

In the login screen, enter the following data:

• Institution ID: enter the short institution ID you received from your license holder
• Password: enter the 8-digit activation code you received from your license holder

In order to use the software, you are now required to register online as an eligible SLAS User. You must provide your name, some general contact data, and your internal ID at the SLAS member institution. This internal ID is typically your student ID number, an employee ID number, or some similar unique idetification number by which the license holder can identify you.

Once you have completely filled out the form and have read and OK'ed the Legal Statement published by your license holder institution, click the "ACTIVATE" button. You should now receive a message stating that you have been successfully registered and that an ATLAS.ti serial number will been mailed to you.

This already concludes you registration process. Please check your email now for a message containing the ATLAS.ti serial number. Use this number to install and activate the copy of ATLAS.ti in your possession.

What You Do Next - Sign out

When you are finished using ATLAS.ti--i.e., when the time period stated in your activation mail expires and/or when you are notified by the license holder that you should return your copy of the software and activation codes--you log onto the Web site where you first registered.

Log in using your original activation code (NOT the ATLAS.ti serial number!). You should now see a text confirming your deactivation of the code. At this point, click "deactivate," and follow the reminader of the instructions on the screen.
