Campus Licenses

Campus Licenses

Welcome to the Campus License Section

Your educational institution seeks a cost-effective alternative to individual license purchasing. Under the ATLAS.ti Campus Licensing model, you pay a fixed amount of annual licensing fees over an open lease period. All employees and students of the organization have permanent access to the latest version of the software. This cost-effective licensing model includes all support services as well as all updates and upgrades of the software. Using our automated Web-based system, it is possible for the organization to distribute the software to its individual users and to charge a fee for the individual copies of the software, thereby refinancing part of the cost of the Campus License.

The ATLAS.ti Campus License is available to educational institutions as defined in our terms and conditions.

Calculating Your Campus License Fee

The annual fee for an ATLAS.ti Campus License is calculated from an number of abstract "units" (students and/or employees) of an institution or organization. The annual fee is always 1 EURO multiplied by the amount of "units" as calculated for the institution. The price for an ATLAS.ti Campus License is capped at both ends: The minimum fee is EURO 5000, the maximum is set at EURO 20,000. For example, if an institution has a size of only 1,000 "units," the annual fee is EURO 5,000, the lower unit count notwithstanding. However, for an institution with a unit count as high as 38,000, the annual fee is still only EURO 20,000 (not EURO 38,000, as would be expected).

Campus Licenses for Organizational Sub-Units

ATLAS.ti Campus License cannot be obtained by organizational subunits of a larger institution, such as an individual department. Please refer to our regular multi-user license models for those cases. If, however, you believe that your organizational subunit is a self-contained, entity independent of a larger institution and should therefore qualify for a Campus License, simply inquire directly with us re. your case. Please include a short description.

Lease period

The minimum lease period of an ATLAS.ti Campus License is 12 months. Customers must provide exact data regarding their institutions. The "institution" always encompasses the entire university, training facility, or other kind of organization. The ATLAS.ti Campus License is automatically renewed for another 12-month period upon expiration of the initial term unless the lease is specifically canceled in writing no later than two months prior to its expiration date. The license holder must inform ATLAS.ti GmbH if the numerical basis for the calculation of the license fee (see below) changes by more than 5% during the lease period.

License Distribution

ATLAS.ti provides ACLOS, the ATLAS.ti Campus License Ordering System, and an automated Web-based system to help organizations distribute the software to its individual users (e.g., students, employees). ACLOS is a convenient way for organizations to get the software in the hands of the users without any administrative effort whatsoever on the part of the organization.

Refinancing

It is possible for the organization to charge their end-users a fee for the individual copies of the software, thereby refinancing part of the cost of the Campus License. We transfer the revenue to the license holders account on a monthly basis.

Installation

A campus license of ATLAS.ti means that the software can bei either installed standalone on as many clients as the university wants, or you may also choose to install the software on a server and make it accessible from client PCs. The latter mode of installation is called the "Network-aware or LAN-aware" mode. In addition, you may use our ACLOS System to distribute the software to students and staff (for home-use, for example.)
