Which License to Get?

Explanation

Single User License: Installation of the program purchased under a single user license is restricted to one single personal computer owned by or under control of the licensee plus one additional computer also owned by the licensee. However, at any given time only one copy of ATLAS.ti may be in use.

In typical training sessions, more than one copy of the program is used concurrently. This is NOT covered under the single user license; you must purchase a multi user license for such applications.

Educational Discounts

All single user licenses may be obtained at a significant discount to educational institutions and their employees.

Explanation

The Multi-User License (Concurrent Use License) permits installation (full server, plus lightweight client installation) and concurrent use of the program on multiple PCs of the license holder and/or multiple work stations of a Local Area Network, up to the amount covered by the license.

Purchase or Lease?

Multi-user licenses are available for purchase and for lease ("subscription"):



Purchasing a license involves a single one-time payment which grants unlimited use of the software. Support and updates (service packs) are included in the purchase price. Upgrades to newer program versions (if and when they become available) must be purchased separately.

Converting to License Lease

If after the purchase you decide that you would prefer to always receive the latest version of ATLAS.ti after all, and that you want to spread out your software expense over several years, in order to preserve liquidity and to simplify budgeting, it is still possible to convert your purchased multi-user license into a leased license at any time.



Leasing a license means payment of small annual fees instead of a one-time purchase price. You have full use of the software for the duration of the lease (minimum leasing period of one year) and receive automatic upgrades to the latest software versions as soon as they become available. In this way, your ATLAS.ti is always up-to-date and state-of-the-art. Full support is included in the lease price.

Converting to Purchased License

If after some time during the license lease you decide to switch to a fully owned license model while continuing to use the current version and without further annual payment, the ATLAS.ti license lease model can accommodate this as well.

At the end of each year during the lease contract, a single additional one-time payment converts the software into a fully owned model.

The one-time payment equals:

  • triple the annual licensing fee at the end of the first year of the lease;
  • double the annual licensing fee at the end of the second year of the lease;
  • one single annual licensing fee at the end of the third year of the lease;
  • one single annual licensing fee at the end of all subsequent years of the lease.

Should you wish to convert the leased license into a fully owned license during the first year of the lease, all you need to pay is three annual fees. During the second year of lease, this amount is only equal to two annual fees, and while from the third year on the total is always only equal to one annual feee.

A license converted to the fully owned model can be used indefinitely and it includes all additional benefits and services of a regular purchased license.

License Administration and Tracking

To simplify license administration and tracking on the part of our customers, ATLAS.ti makes available SLAS, a web application that helps you to minimize your adminstrative efforts vis-a-vis the actual users, i.e. your employees and/or students. SLAS is a convenient way to allow your users quick access to invidual serial numbers for installation, and it helps you to keep track of the individual copies of the software given out to users. A web-based check-in/check-out system keeps administrative hassles completely away from your staff and still lets you easily monitor all your individual copies of the software--on campus as well as for work-at-home scenarios. SLAS is available free of charge to institutions with more than 50 users.

Explanation

The ATLAS.ti student license is available at a very significant discount to eligible individuals after submitting proof of eligibility.

This license cannot be upgraded. Aside from this restriction, it is 100% identical to the regular full license, i.e. it is NOT limited in length of use or functionality.

Student Licenses can only be purchased by fulltime students of accredited educational institutions with PROOF OF ELIGIBILIY only (e.g., student ID). Student licenses are PERSONAL licenses and can NOT be purchased by or through institutions or organizations. A program purchased under a student license must NOT be installed on an institutional computer. (Organizations can provide ATLAS.ti to their students via a) computer pool installations of ATLAS.ti multi-user licenses or b) by contracting a Campus License).

Explanation

The ATLAS.ti Campus License is a volume license best suited for institutions with a very large user base. It offers access to ATLAS.ti for an unlimited number of users for a single annual flat fee.

Unlike our multi-user licenses, the price of the ATLAS.ti campus license is not based on the amount of concurrent users, but on the size of the institution. IMPORTANT: Prices for all ATLAS.ti licenses INCLUDE full online support and maintenance (updates, service packs, and upgrades to minor program versions, such as 5.0 to 5.1, 5.2 etc.). Upgrades to major program versions (e.g., v4.x to v5.x, v5.x to v6.x etc.) are included in all LEASED licenses and the Campus license.
