Make the world your document – ATLAS.ti and Google Earth™

With ATLAS.ti 6 due out next year, researchers have a whole lot to look forward to. But there is one new feature that we're particularly proud of: we have seamlessly integrated ATLAS.ti's quotation concept with Google Earth™.

With this new feature, you will be able to treat locations as documents and work with them in the same way you do with all other types of data: you can code them, quote them, comment on them, connect them to other types of data, build networks or routes and more. You will be able to come to conclusions and insights that you couldn't reach any other way. Whatever role geo data plays in your research – primary data, auxiliary information, evidence, etc. – ATLAS.ti 6 will support you.

Locative information is increasingly important to all scientific, governmental and commercial fields that work with data related to concrete spatial locations or areas. Among these fields are Anthropology, Archaeology, Historical Sciences, Criminology, Customer Relations, Forestry, Geography, Tourism, Ethnography, Epidemiology, Urban Planning, Real Estate, Marketing and Logistics. Whatever your field, ATLAS.ti 6 will give you the opportunity to include geo data in your research for your most productive results yet.

This is what it will look like on your screen:

ATLAS.ti 6 fully supports Google Earth's KMZ data format and allows you to send a location link, together with comments and other added documents, to any recipient – even those who don't work with ATLAS.ti.

What can we say? ATLAS.ti enlarges your data palette yet again. Here's an overview of the types of data that you will be able to use in ATLAS.ti:

As we introduce a way to include geo data into qualitative data analysis, we remain at the forefront of new practices in QDA. ATLAS.ti 6 is the first software to offer this feature – but, as usual, we expect others to jump on board.

And one more thing: we strongly believe that research should be fun, and we are certain that you are going to have a blast with this new feature. Just don't get lost in cyberspace!
