Service Pack 3

If your version number is LOWER than 5.0.66, you should install Service Pack 3 as described below. The Service Pack installs the Live Update Service Pack Manager which from now on automates all further updates! - Finding out the version number is explained here.

SERVICE PACK 3+

Last changed: May 6, 2005

Writing conventions: menu options are written: mainmenuname|submenu|….|option (as in: "Tools|Service Pack Manager")

You should now download and install Service Pack 3+ which upgrades ATLAS.ti version 5.0.60-63 to build 5.0.66. The last part of the version number (e.g., 63) is the so called “build”.

Before you start, please check if you are already up-to-date:

  1. Start ATLAS.ti
  2. Select from the main menu File | Info. If your ATLAS.ti Version is on build number 66 you don't have to do anything. You are already up-to-date. If your version is anywhere between 5.0 (build 60) and 5.0 (build 63) proceed with the steps below.

IMPORTANT: to install a service pack for ATLAS.ti you need to have administrative rights for the computer ATLAS.ti is installed on.

Download the Service Pack

This is how you should proceed (please read the following VERY carefully, in fact consider printing it out for quick reference!):

  1. Make sure you are connected to the Internet (you might need to take some action if you are using a modem).
  2. Download the service pack file A5SP3PlusB.spk by clicking HERE.
The size of the downloaded file must be exactly 5,005,824 bytes (see the exact size by selecting "Properties" from the file’s context menu (=right click) in Windows Explorer).
(NOTE: if you are updating a demo version, download A5SP3Demo.spk instead).
  3. Copy the service pack file from your download folder into the ATLAS.ti service pack folder. If you have an English Windows version this folder is most probably: c:\program files\scientific software\atlasti. With ATLAS.ti running you can comfortably locate and open this folder by selecting menu item Extras|Explorer|ServicePack Folder from the HU Editor's main menu.
  4. Select Tools|Service Pack Manager from the main menu.
  5. In the Service Pack Manager window select the package you just downloaded and click Start Install.
  6. Quit ATLAS.ti
  7. The next two steps (step 7 and step 8) are required only if your current version of ATLAS.ti is lower than 5.0.63.

  8. Use the Windows Explorer browse the ...ATLASTI\PROGRAM folder. Again, if you accepted the default folder during main installation, this should be something like c:\program files\scientific software\atlasti\program.
  9. Double-click file REPLACEEXE.BAT.
  10. Start ATLAS.ti
  11. Check the build again. It should now be build 66
  12. Now go on and install any additional available updates with the help of the Live Update Service Pack Manager that has been just installed!

All done! The next time you update will be much more comfortable. Check for updates once in a while using the new Live Update Service Pack Manager that you just installed.

This most recent service pack also incorporates ALL changes, fixes, and improvements from previous service packs since the release of ATLAS.ti 5. There is no need to download older service packs, but if you would like to see a complete list of previous changes and bug fixes, you can find them here.
